HITT Workouts and Lifting Weights

If you follow me on Instagram you know that last weekend I broke down and bought a pair of weightlifting gloves.  I was so tired of the rough callous on my hands!

Last Fall, after lots of persuading from Peter, I added weights to my daily workouts.  It was super hard in the beginning, but as time has gone on it's gotten easier as I've gotten stronger.  I've even upped the weight {more than once}!

In addition to cardio equipment, the gym at our apartment complex has a set of free weights, two weight benches, and five weight machines.  It also has a separate room with a t.v. and tablet preloaded with all different kinds of workout videos.  I started with a HITT dumbbell bootcamp workout by Mike Donovan.  (Although the workout I do isn't on his YouTube channel, you can check out his YouTube channel here.)  After I could feel myself getting stronger, I started feeling more confident and I started doing Josephine's Total Body Blast by GymRa a couple days a week.

BUT, relying on these videos to incorporate weights into my workouts poses two problems:
Problem 1- I can't use the room with the t.v. and tablet when someone else is in there.
Problem 2- Sometimes the tablet doesn't connect to the t.v. correctly and I can't use it.

I typically solve Problem 1 by using the weight machines and Problem 2 by doing Mike Donovan's HITT Dumbell Bootcamp workout without the video using the timer on my phone.  (I've done it so many times I have it memorized.)  I would love to solve both problems, but especially Problem 1, by using the free weights.  The problem with that is I'm still a total noob at this whole weight lifting thing and I don't know a whole lot of exercises to do with free weights.  That's why I'm writing this blog post!

After I started feeling more comfortable using weights in my workouts I searched Pinterest for free weight workouts, HITT workouts with weights, etc., but y'all, it was SO overwhelming!  So I stopped looking, which didn't solve either of my problems and led me here.  What are your favorite free weight exercises?  Share them with me in the comments below!
